The rules of Welsh Welly Wanging Championship are broadly based on the rules found on various internet sites and especially here in the Wikipedia site. However, the rules on this page are unique to the WWW Open Championship and no other rules shall apply.

1.
There are six categories:  Adults, under 16 years and under 13 years, with a male and female category in each age group;

2.
The younger age groups are calculated as age on 31st August on the same year as the event. So children must be 15 years old or younger on 31st August to qualify for the under 16 age group and 12 years old or younger on 31st August to qualify for the under 13 age group. The date is based on the school year cut-off;

3.
The throwing area will be 10 feet wide (this being the width of a standard Welsh farm gate);

4.
Each competitor may have up to two wangs per entry (may be varied on the day). Invalid wangs count as a wang but will not be eligible to be measured and recorded and entered into the competition;

5.
Entries cost: £3 for adults, £2 for under 16 and £1 for under 13. These costs may be varied on the day;

6.
At least some part of the wanged welly must land inside the marked area to count. The marked area shall be 10 feet wide (see above) and the tape is part of the marked area;

7.
The competitor must wang from behind the wanging line. Stepping over the wanging line will invalidate the wang;

8.
A sensible run-up is permitted but anyone holding up wanging by taking excessive run-ups will have the wang declared as invalid;

9.
Only wellies provided by the organiser may be wanged. Wanging any other welly will make the wang invalid;

10.
