There are six categories: Adults,
under 16 years and under 13 years,
with a male and female category in
each age group; |

The
younger age groups are calculated
as age on 31st August on the same
year as the event. So children
must be 15 years old or younger on
31st August to qualify for the
under 16 age group and 12 years
old or younger on 31st August to
qualify for the under 13 age
group. The date is based on the
school year cut-off; |
|
3.
|
The
throwing area will be 10 feet wide
(this being the width of a
standard Welsh farm gate); |
|
4.
|
Each competitor may have up to two
wangs per entry (may be varied on the day). Invalid wangs
count as a wang but will not be
eligible to be measured and
recorded and entered into the
competition; |
|
5.
|
Entries cost: £3 for adults,
£2 for under 16 and £1
for under 13. These costs may be varied on the day; |
|
6.
|
At
least some part of the wanged
welly must land inside the
marked area to count. The marked
area shall be 10 feet wide (see
above) and the tape is part of
the marked area; |
|
7.
|
The
competitor must wang from behind
the wanging line. Stepping over the wanging line will invalidate the wang; |
|
8.
|
A
sensible run-up is permitted but
anyone holding up wanging by
taking excessive run-ups will have
the wang declared as invalid; |
|
9.
|
Only wellies provided by the organiser
may be wanged. Wanging any other
welly will make the wang invalid; |
|
10.
|
The
welly may be wanged but any means
except artificial means. The welly
must be in contact with the
wanger’s body (hands, feet, teeth,
etc.) at the point of wanging; |
|
11.
|
At
the end of the competition the
longest wang in each category
shall be declared the winner and
the prizes and trophies awarded
accordingly; |
|
12.
|
The
winner of the Male Adults category
will be crowned 'Master Wanger'
and the winner of the Female
Adults category will be crowned
'Mistress Wanger'; |
|
13.
|
The
winner of each category shall have
the right to add the initials
‘wwww’ after their name (Welsh
Welly Wanging Winner) for one
year; |
|
14.
|
In
the event of a dead heat a ‘wang
off’ shall be called with each
tied competitor wanging a welly in
turn until a winner emerges. In
the event a competitor can’t be
found or refuses to leave the beer
or Pimms tent for the wang off
they shall declared ‘wanged out’
and shall forfeit the wang off; |

The
wanger of the worst wang may be
crowned 'Worst Wanger' and awarded
the Wooden Spoon. The worst wang
shall be based be entirely on the
opinion of the organiser.

All
competitors agree to have the
results and any photographs
published on the Welsh Welly
Wanging website and other mediums; |
|
16.
|
The
organiser’s decision is final in
all matters associated with the
WWW Open. |
